Federal prosecutors said yesterday (August 21) that a man and woman who were arrested in Cortland back in February with four pounds of methamphetamine and a loaded handgun are also suspects in a California murder case.
Thirty-five-year-old Kyle Leeper, listed as homeless in the arrest, and 35-year-old Arlene Rodriguez, of Montebello California, were arraigned in U.S. District Court yesterday.
Court documents show they’ve been hit with new charges on top of their February arrest, when they were pulled over near the Big Lots on Route 281 by officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department.
The duo pleaded not guilty on all counts and are currently being held in jail, although they will have an opportunity to petition for a pre-trial release at a later date.
Both now face life in prison for their combined charges.
