October is right around the corner, which means so is the 24th Annual Great Cortland Pumpkinfest, held this year the weekend of October 5-6, 2019.
New this year are extended hours on the Sunday of the festival, which will run 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday (October 5) and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday (October 6).
“People share with us how much they enjoyed the Great Cortland Pumpkinfest as kids and how they now like to bring their own children to the festival,” says Mindy Stevenson, Pumpkinfest co-chair. “The Planning Committee and I are excited to continue this festival that has been such a large part of the Cortland community for more than 20 years, and watch families make new memories they can share with their children.”
This year’s festival will fan-features like the craft show, delicious festival dining, talented local entertainment, games for children, the pumpkin decorating contest, and more.
The planning committee also says it’s working on bringing some new activities.
“Stay tuned to our website and social media accounts,” said Elizabeth Cole, Pumpkinfest co-chair. “We have a lot of great things that will be announced over the weeks leading up to the festival that we are very excited to share with festival-goers.”
The festival was recently nominated in USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards contest as a Best Fall Festival in the USA, with voting continuing through Noon ET on Monday (August 26).
“A nomination for a national contest is such an honor,” said Cole. “This nomination is recognition of the amazing talent that we have in the area that we get to showcase every year during Pumpkinfest, and we are so happy to see our festival competing with other amazing festivals across the country.”
