Police: Ithaca Man Imprisoned, Abused Girlfriend For ‘Extended Period of Time’

An Ithaca man was arrested last week after holding his girlfriend against her will and subjecting her to unwanted physical contact over an “extended period of time,” according to Ithaca Police.

The defendant is 36-year-old Jon Ross, of North Cayuga Street.

Ithaca Police were called to his residence just past 1:00 Wednesday (July 31) afternoon for a report of a female being threatened with a gun by her boyfriend. Upon their arrival, the victim told Police she was being held against her will and that Ross had been abusing her and threatening her with weapons.

Officers then searched the residence discovered several illegally owned weapons, including but not limited to an assault rifle, two sawed off shotguns and a pair of metal knuckles. They also found ammunition for each of the guns.

These weapons were seized, along with all other firearms and ammunition inside the residence.

Ross was arrested and remanded to Tompkins County Jail on $5000.00 cash / $10,000.00 bond.
