Deputies with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office on Friday (July 12) arrested 40-year-old Kyna Malchak, of Health Camp Road in Homer, after she struck a child with a hammer during a disturbance. She also reportedly threatened the child with a knife.
Malchak was due to appear in the Town of Homer Court yesterday (July 16) evening.
After months of investigation, Ithaca Police yesterday (July 16) arrested an 18-year-old Ithaca man for robbing a Tompkins Trust bank on South Meadow Street back on September 20 of last year (2018).
Police say on that day, Caleb Kuhns of Danby Road entered the bank and pointed a pistol at employees while demanding cash. He left with just under $4,800.
Ithaca Police worked closely in their investigation with State Police, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, State Park Police, Cornell University Police, the Tioga County Sheriff’s Department, and Town of Candor Police Department.
Kuhns was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and remanded to Tompkins County Jail on $10K cash/$20K bond.
A Cortland man was arrested on Saturday (July 13) after Police found him in possession of a loaded, sawed off 20 gauge shotgun.
Cortland Police responded to Homer Avenue in the city just past midnight, where they say 34-year-old Leon Graham of West Main Street had left a verbal altercation with someone before returning with a bag containing the weapon. He also had an additional round for the gun in his pocket.
Police say at no time was anyone was threatened with the weapon. Graham also gave officers a false name when they first interviewed him. He was set to appear in City Court on Monday (July 15).
