Brindisi Announces $250K For Cortland County-Chase Field Airport

Rep. Anthony Brindisi yesterday (July 16) announced a nearly $250,000 federal grant for Cortland County, which will be used to improve the runway at Cortland County-Chase Field airport.

“These dollars are a win for Cortland County,” Brindisi said. “This support helps grow our economy and make air travel safer. I will always fight to improve our infrastructure.”

The grant totals $248,450 and is being administered by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Cortland County-Chase Field Airport is a general aviation airport, designated as local, as defined in the FAA’s National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems report.

“We thank Congressman Brindisi for his tireless effort on this issue,” Cortland Mayor Brian Tobin said. “The Cortland airport is a valuable resource for our community, and this grant will help our airport stay safe and reliable for the people in Cortland.”

Description: Reconstruct Airfield Guidance Signs, Reconstruct Runway Lighting – , Rehabilitate Runway – 06/24

  • This grant will provide federal funding for the Cortland County-Chase Field Airport associated with Cortland, New York. The local point of contact is Mr. Charles Sudbrink, Superintendent of Highways. Mr. Charles Sudbrink may be reached at (607) 753-9377.
  • This project rehabilitates Runway 6/24 to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement.
  • This grant funds the design phase.
  • This project reconstructs the existing Runway 6/24 lighting system that has reached the end of its useful life.
  • This grant funds the design phase.
  • This project reconstructs four of the existing airfield guidance sign fixtures to meet Federal Aviation Administration standards.
  • This grant funds the design phase.
  • Cortland County-Chase Field Airport is a general aviation airport, designated as local, as defined in the FAA’s National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) report.
  • Following this grant announcement, FAA will notify the sponsor of the allocation. A grant offer will be issued subsequently for this grant as finally formulated.
