Cortland Deputy Fire Chief Knickerbocker Retires After 25 Years With Department

City of Cortland Deputy Fire Chief William Knickerbocker yesterday (June 27) officially retired after 25 years with the department, serving primarily in the Code Enforcement Office and serving since 2010 as Deputy Chief and the director of Code Enforcement.

Before coming to Cortland in 1994, Knickerbocker worked as a code enforcement official with Chenango County and was also an active member of the South Otselic Fire Department and served as its Fire Chief for a number of years.

The process of filling his position as Code Enforcement Director is currently under review by the Fire Chief, Mayor and Common Council.
