Ithaca Police on Tuesday (June 11) arrested a homeless man in connection with an armed robbery at the Lowes Improvement store on Fairgrounds Memorial Parkway in Ithaca.
The complaint was called in just before 11:30 a.m.
Police say 31-year-old Zachery Burlingame stole about $1,300 worth of items, including a chainsaw. He also threatened an employee who confronted him with a hatchet.
Burlingame then fled with the stolen material into the area known locally as “the jungle.”
Police soon arrived and located him and the material. They discovered he also has an active bench warrant out of Ithaca City Court for a previous theft.
Burlingame was arraigned and remanded to Tompkins County Jail on $11,000 cash/21,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday (June 17).
