McGraw Central Schools participated in the 2019 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge race in Syracuse last week and came away big winners. The district was given the Scholastic Challenge Award, which includes a $1500 scholarship.
Team Captain and Facilities/Transportation Director for the school, Tom McCall, accepted the award on behalf of the team.
The event itself featured more than 6,000 runners and walkers, who embarked on a 3.5 mile trail at Onondaga Lake Park. J.P. Morgan also holds similar events in Buffalo, Rochester and New York City.
In addition to the race, school employees have been doing their part the past several weeks through a series of wellness challenges like physical activity and healthy cooking habits.
Participants cheered with love and support as each of their members crossed the finish line.
McGraw’s team shirts said it best: “Making a Difference, One Step at a Time.”
