X101’s Vincente Bellardini recently had the opportunity to speak with Robert Berry, an American guitarist, vocalist and producer who’s more than 30-year career includes work with stars like Steve Howe, Sammy Hagar, Carl Palmer and the late Keith Emerson.
Interview Part One:
Berry and Emerson were close friends for nearly 30 years and were recording an album together in 2016 when he tragically took his own life. After months of grieving, Berry got back in the studio and pieced parts of what the two had done so far with new additions from both himself and contributors including Emerson’s own son.
Interview Part Two:
The result is a collaborative masterpiece, entitled 3.2, that’s both a powerful tribute to a dear friend and a milestone album in Berry’s distinguished career. Berry told us he’s never been more proud of his work than he is with the accomplishment of this album, but even approaching 70-years-old he hopes to continue ascending on his musical journey.
