Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck sent out a high water advisory yesterday (May 16), warning that recent heavy rainfall in the area has brought most local lakes and waterways close to or above their flood levels.
If you plan on being out on the water anywhere around here, be wary of difficult navigation conditions like unpredictable currents and debris that may be undetectable at the surface.
Sheriff Schenck also says to watch your wakes to ensure there are none that could potentially damage property.
Another update will be issued when the advisory has been pulled.
