Ithaca Police are investigating a “shots fired” call that took place over the weekend, just blocks from the city’s busy downtown area.
Gunshots were heard coming from the 200 Block of S. Cayuga Street just past 2:00 Saturday morning (May 11).
Police were called to a nearby parking lot and the IPD Crime Scene Unit spoke with various witnesses and processed a large crime scene, but were not able to locate any suspects. Potential description details are still being worked out.
Not much more information has been released at this time, but thankfully there were no injuries reported.
IPD is now asking for the public’s help with that investigation. You can remain anonymous if you wish.

From Ithaca Police Chief Pete Tyler:
“It’s troubling to hear about this latest incident in an area so close to downtown where there were potentially lots of people out and about. It’s fortunate nobody got hurt from this reckless and dangerous situation.”
