Just under $10M from the Federal Aviation Administration is on the way to the Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport to support Phase 2 of the cumulative $30M expansion project.
U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer made that announcement yesterday (May 9), adding that this crucial grant will continue the airport’s expansion into a “nationally recognized airport with world-class facilities, as well as a gateway for travelers throughout the Southern Tier and to destinations across the country and around the globe.”
Schumer visited Ithaca Tompkins Regional in February (2019) and contacted the FAA that April to get things going.
Phase 2 will now begin the construction of a post-security arrival/departure concourse and new jet bridges.
The first phase was a full reconstruction of the entrance to the terminal building.
