Three Cortland residents were arrested Monday (May 6) night after a verbal altercation quickly spun out of control and turned into a gang-style beating.

Cortland Police responded to a disturbance call on South Avenue just before 8:00 p.m., where they learned that 34-year-old Jeremy Schultz and a 45-year old man were in an argument that quickly broke into a physical fight.

Jumping in on Schultz’ side were 22-year-old Jonathon Jeffrey of West River Road and 35-year-old Bettyann Rogers of South Avenue.

All three were charged with assault and were being held at CPD pending arraignment at the time of this release.

The 45-year-old man was rushed to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, treated for a variety of non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
