Cayuga County Audited By State Comptroller For Neglecting To Shop Around For Purchaesdit

Local News

A new municipal audit from the state comptroller’s office found that Cayuga County officials did not seek competition for aggregate purchases they made from nine different vendors totaling about $746,000.

It also found the same issue with 14 professional service providers the county used, which totaled about $2.7 million in spending.

In addition, the report found the Clerk of the Cayuga County Legislature did not audit 26 claims totaling nearly $77,000 before payment and approved 25 claims totaling more than $50,000 that were not adequately supported.

That full report is available online at the comptroller’s website.
