A Homer man is facing felony DWI charges after Officers with the Cortland Sheriff’s Office say he left the scene of a one-car accident with an injured passenger behind.
Deputies responded to the scene on Locust Avenue in Cortlandville around 2:00 Sunday (April 14) morning, where they say 30-year-old Zackery Rice of Henry Street in Homer crashed his vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
He was located a short distance from the wreck.
His passenger had to be flown by Life Net helicopter to University Hospital for a head injury.
Rice was arrested for a Felony DWI because of a prior conviction. He was due back in court yesterday.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Homer Police Department, Homer Fire Department, TLC Ambulance and CNY Towing.
