A fire late last night (April 4) here in the Village drew response crews from Homer, Cortland and Cortlandville.
That call came in around 12:30 this morning.
The scene of the blaze was a two floor apartment complex on Pine Street in Homer, behind the Key Bank and across the Tioughnioga river foot bridge.
The original call over the scanners included reports of heavy fire and smoke coming from a second floor apartment.
There were initially residents who were struggling to get out but thankfully with help from the responding crews everyone made it out safely with no reported injuries.
Authorities got a water line into the building and were able to knock down the flames rather quickly.
The cause of that fire is still under investigation.
