A Homer woman was charged with a DWI over the weekend after she crashed her vehicle on Route 13 and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Officers with the Cortland Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene just before 3:00 Saturday morning between Light House Hill and Health Camp Road in the Town of Homer.
They say 29 year-old Kristy Matthews, of State Route 11 in Homer, was travelling north on Route 13 when she crossed over the other lane and struck the guide rail, flipping her vehicle and shearing off a telephone pole before coming to rest.
TLC Ambulance also responded and took Matthews to Upstate Medical Center for serious but non-life threatening injuries. She was then arrested for driving while intoxicated. Route 13 was closed for several hours to allow emergency crews to clear that accident scene.
