The Cortland Common Council met last night (March 19) for its second monthly meeting.
Among the key resolutions, a new local law has now been approved that will limit on-street parking on Tompkins Street near the intersection of the Folmer Drive SUNY Cortland entrance.
That law will now need to be filed through the clerks office and will take about 10 days to take effect. Be on the lookouk for ‘No Parking’ signs that will be put up soon.
Also at last night’s meeting, Cortland Police Sgt Detective Dan Edwards was recognized for 30 years of service with the Department.
The Council also moved to lift the hiring freeze at the Cortland Fire Department in order to allow the Chief to search for and hire two candidates: One to fill in an upcoming retirement in May and another to support in lieu of a member of the team undergoing surgery.
In addition, April was declared “Fair Housing Month.”
The next Common Council meeting will be held Tuesday, April 2.
