Volunteers and partners with the American Red Cross will visit local homes this Spring and help install some 100,000 free smoke alarms nationwide during an effort to ‘Sound the Alarm’ against home fires.
Here in our region, the Western and Central New York Red Cross is rallying volunteers and partners to install over 2,200 free smoke alarms, as well as replace batteries in existing alarms, and help families create home fire escape plans.
Those installations will happen April 27-May 12 across the country. The Central NY date is slated for Saturday May 4.
Services are free and available for all those in need.
You can visit soundthealarm.org/wcny for more information and to register for a free installation appointment.
They are also calling for those interested in volunteering, as well.
