State Police responded to a fatal crash this morning (March 4) on Interstate-81 near exit 10 in the town of Cortlandville.
Troopers were dispatched to the scene just before 7 a.m.
They say a TLC Ambulance was traveling southbound responding to another call on the Interstate with all of its emergency lights activated.
It was attempting to make a U-turn near exit 10 when a 2019 Nissan Rogue being driven in the passing lane by a 68-year-old Baldwinsville man struck the ambulance on its driver’s side before losing control and striking a guide rail on the right side.
Members of the ambulance immediately checked on the man, who was unresponsive.
He was transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation is still pending and the name of the victim will be released at a later time.
No tickets have been issued thus far.
