The National Weather Service has a Winter Storm Warning now in effect until Wednesday (February 13) at 7 am for Cortland, Southern Cayuga, Chenango and Otsego counties and for all of Central New York.
According to the Weather Service, heavy snow and mixed precipitation is expected with total snow accumulations of 6 to 9 inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch expected. Snow will mix sleet and freezing rain by early afternoon and continue overnight.
Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute on Tuesday. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph are possible.
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
