State Police at Ithaca are investigating an accident that occurred just passed 7:00 Tuesday (January 22) night, where a 54-year-old Dryden man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Turkey Hill Road near Stevenson Road in Dryden.
Police say a preliminary investigation determined the man was walking along the north side of the road, pushing a bicycle within the lane of travel and left of the fog line–not along the shoulder.
He was struck by a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old Ithaca woman who was also traveling north, and ultimately succumbed to his injuries despite CPR and other response from Varna Fire and Rescue.
The roadway is not lit in the area and Police say the man was wearing dark clothes. The woman who hit him did stop immediately and is cooperating with investigators.
At this time, no tickets have been issued. The investigation now continues.
