Ithaca Police Chief To Retire After 27 Years With Department

Ithaca Police Chief Pete Tyler yesterday (January 29) announced his plans to retire from the Department on May 31st of this year.

Tyler has been with the Ithaca Police Department for 27 years and has been Chief since December 2017.

It was only earlier this month that Chief Tyler was the first to respond to a two-car crash in Ithaca and administer aid to a man that would up saving his life.

As if being Chief of Police isn’t enough, Tyler also volunteers as a firefighter and EMT at the Dryden Fire Department and says he plans to continue that work after leaving the Ithaca Police Department.
