The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Warning in effect from 6:00 PM EST until Monday, 7:00 PM EST.
The Winter Storm warning has now been cancelled.
Dangerously cold wind chills are expected. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph, will cause blowing and drifting snow with Wind chills as low as 30 below zero expected tonight through Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
This warning is for Cortland, Tompkins, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, Broome, Onondaga, Yates, Seneca and Southern Cayuga counties.
The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
A Wind Chill Warning means the combination of very cold air and the wind will create dangerously low wind chill values. Frostbite can occur quickly and even hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken.
