Due to the ongoing federal shutdown, most New Yorkers who receive the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (or SNAP) benefits will receive their full February benefits early.
The State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance said Monday that recipients may receive their February benefits as early as this Thursday (January 17).
They also advised New Yorkers to budget accordingly, as these early benefits are not extra and will need to last the entire month of February.
Current SNAP recipients, due to receive February benefits, who do not receive their benefits as part of the early issuance, will receive them on February 1.
