The Cortland County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is currently looking to fill opportunities in our area:
–Seven Valleys Health Coalition seeks a volunteer on Wednesdays from 4:30-6:00pm through March 28 or on Thursdays from 4:30-6:00pm only during February (except February 21) to check-in community members who participate in a walking exercise program at Barry School.
–CAPCO needs volunteers to drive your own vehicle to transport Cortland County residents to non-emergency medical appointments in Cortland or adjacent counties. Volunteers must possess a valid NYS driver’s license and a dependable vehicle with valid, current insurance, registration, and inspection. Volunteers can specify to which county you are willing to drive and what day(s) you are available. Drivers are not paid, but receive mileage reimbursement at the current federal rate.
–AARP is looking for additional presenters in Cortland County for its “Smart Driver” six-hour driver refresher classes. Each class is usually held in two three-hour sessions, but could be done in one day. Class size is limited to 35 people. Thorough training is provided, including a mentoring program with another instructor before presenting a class independently. Presenters provide a six-hour class two or three times a year.
–Crown Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center needs clerical assistance with filing the first week of the month at the volunteer’s convenience during business hours.
If you are at least 55 and would like more information about these or other volunteer opportunities, contact the Cortland County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program at 607-753-5057 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
