A Cortland woman was arrested last week for a DWI, following treatment for injuries she sustained in a one-car crash in the Town of Cortlandville.

The Cortland Sheriff’s Office says 45-year-old Jennifer Dugan of Bartlett Avenue was travelling northbound on Locust Avenue just before 5:00 Wednesday evening (December 12) after she flipped her vehicle and took down several power lines.

Police say Dugan drifted off the roadway and sheered a utility pole, flipping her vehicle and entrapping herself inside it.

It took 20 minutes for Homer Fire Rescue to cut into her vehicle and extricate her.

She was taken by TLC Ambulance to Upstate Medical Center for minor injuries while crews cleaned up the scene and reattached power and utility poles.

There were some power and cable/internet outages reported, but all have since been restored.

Dugan was later arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and is due to appear in the Town of Cortlandville Court on January 7.
