Red Cross Holds Local Blood Drives In Lieu Of Severe Shortage

Due to a severe blood shortage, the Red Cross announced yesterday (December 3) the dates of 20 different blood drives that will take place this month in Tompkins Count alone. There will also be several in Cortland County.

Beginning this week, the Cortland County Office Building hosted a drive today (December 4) from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Tompkins-Cortland Community College will host a drive tomorrow from (December 5) 9:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. and Cayuga Medical Center on Friday (December 7) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Cortland Police and Fire Departments will also hold their big Battle of the Badges blood drive next Monday, December 17, at Cortland City Hall.

Additional drives in December:

12/5 Homewood Suites (36 Cinema Drive in Ithaca) from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

12/8 Church of Latter-Day Saints (114 Burleigh Drive in Ithaca) from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

12/13 Tompkins County Library (101 East Green Street in Ithaca) from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

12/15 Community Church of Groton (204 East Cortland Street) from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

12/15 Arthur E Bouton American Legion Post 770 (4431 East Seneca Road in Trumansburg) from 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

12/18 Dryden Veterans Home (2272 Dryden Road) from 1 – 6 p.m.

12/19 Claritas (53 Brown Rd in Ithaca) from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

All drives in December will have free tee-shirts for each donor.

Drives running 12/1-12/19 will receive a $5 amazon e-card when they donate and drives running 12/20 – 12/31 will receive a limited additional long sleeve tee shirt when they donate.
