A Homer man was arrested Sunday (November 25) night after he drove intoxicated and crashed near the intersection of State Route 41 and Country Lane in the Town of Scott.
The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office says 65-year-old Jerry Phalen, of Glen Haven Road in Homer, was driving his Jeep northbound on Route 41 when he failed to negotiate a curve and went off the roadway, striking a swimming pool before finally hitting a traffic sign that stopped him.
He was arrested, processed, and later arraigned in the Town of Homer Court where he was released. He’s due in the Town of Scott court tonight (December 4).
In an unrelated incident, Sheriffs also arrested 19-year-old David Sakowski of Chester NY Saturday night for driving intoxicated and rolling his vehicle over near the intersection of Routes 41 and 26 in Cincinnatus.
Police say he also failed to negotiate a curve at an intersection, travelling through the parking lot of the Cincy “Y” and continuing across Route 26, where he overturned in an earth embankment.
Sakowski was uninjured but was arrested, processed, and later released to a third party.
