Local News

Election Day is finally upon us.

No matter which political party you affiliate yourself with, the important thing is to get out and vote. Not only is it your right, but this year features several close races that are panning out to come right down to the wire.

This year, more than ever, every vote is going to count.

That said, here’s a quick look at the races we’re following here at X101 News:

Congressional District 22

Incumbent representative Claudia Tenney (R) is challenged by State Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi (D), a representative of the 119th Assembly District.

Tenney is seeking a second Congressional term in a race that’s turning out to be one of the closest in the entire country.

Polls have shown fluctuating numbers going in either candidate’s favor. This one is going to come down to the final vote.

Congressional District 22 includes Chenango, Cortland, Madison and Oneida counties, as well as parts of Broome, Herkimer, Tioga and Oswego counties.

State Supreme Court, 6th District

Cortland Judge Elizabeth Burns is running on the Democratic side of the ticket for State Supreme Court Justice of the 6th Judicial District.

On the Republican side is Chenango County District Attorney Joe McBride.

The 6th Judicial District of New York includes Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Madison, Otsego, Schuyler, Tioga, and Tompkins counties.

State Senator, 51st District

Sitting Senator James Seward (R) faces opposition from Joyce St. George (D) after more than two decades at the state senate.

The 51st Senate District is comprised of part or all of nine counties, including Cortland, Tompkins, Cayuga, Madison, Chenango and more.

Assembly District 126

In the race for New York’s 126th Assembly District, incumbent representative Gary Finch (R) is challenged by Keith Batman (D).

The 126th Assembly District includes Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland and Onondaga counties.

Congressional District 24

We will also be following the tightly contested race between Rep. John Katko (R) and Dana Balter (D).

Katko is seeking his third term in the 24th Congressional District, which includes all of Cayuga, Onondaga, and Wayne counties, and the western part of Oswego County.

We will have results for these races and more posted as soon as the final ballots are counted.

Polls are open all day today (November 6) from 6 a.m.-9 p.m.
