Red Cross: Test Your Smoke Alarms As You Turn Back Your Clocks

Local News

This weekend, we prepare to ‘fall back’ an hour to what’s generally considered Standard time.

The exact time to set your clocks back is 2:00 Sunday (November 4) morning, but most will do so Saturday (November 3) night before they go to bed.

As you set the clocks back in your home tomorrow, the American Red Cross urges you to use it as an opportunity to test your fire alarms. Their functionality could make a key different when disaster strikes.

Volunteers from the Red Cross responded to two fires in the City of Auburn this week, providing immediate emergency assistance for a total of 14 people.

Red Cross assistance typically includes funding for temporary housing, food and clothing as needed, and specially-trained Disaster Mental Health volunteers are available to help those affected deal with the emotional aspect of their disaster.

The Red Cross reminds residents to be vigilant about fire safety and use this weekend’s daylight savings changeover to test all your smoke alarms.
