Law Enforcement To Crack Down On Impaired Driving This Halloween

Local News

New York State Police and local law enforcement say they’ve been increasing patrols to crack down on impaired driving and underage drinking this Halloween season.

Motorists can continue to expect an increase in sobriety checkpoints and DWI patrols throughout the week.

Law enforcement will also be looking for motorists who are using their phones and other electronic devices while behind the wheel.

In addition, there will also be an increase in underage drinking enforcement details statewide.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says there have been 168 drunk driving-related fatalities on Halloween night from 2012-2016.

Fourteen percent of Halloween night pedestrian deaths also involved drunk drivers.
