Local News

This Wednesday (October 24), representatives from the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Department of Energy will join other national and state representatives for a highly anticipated manufacturing showcase in Syracuse.

The event will be hosted by Empire State Development’s Division of Science, Technology & Innovation (NYSTAR) and FuzeHub, the statewide New York Manufacturing Extension Partnership center.

It will not only highlight the current state of manufacturing technology in the U.S., but also explore the emerging possibilities of the industry’s near and far futures.

Participating with the Departments of Defense and Energy will be representatives from Empire State Development, the National Institute of Standards and Technology and seven manufacturing companies from across the U.S. – three of which are headquartered in New York State (AIM Photonics, the REMADE Institute and the RAPID Institute).

Experts will take a look into recent advances made in fields like integrated photonics, digital manufacturing, robotics and automation and discuss the new industries and applications these technologies will inevitably create.

Wednesday’s showcase will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel & Conference Center.
