New York’s Unemployment Rate Falls To Lowest In 30 years

Local News

The unemployment rate in New York State fell to 4.1% in September, reaching its lowest level in 30 years (Since June, 1988).

According to preliminary figures released yesterday by the Department of Labor, this statewide rate drop was in part due to another monthly decline in New York City’s unemployment rate, which fell from 4.1% to 4.0%, its lowest level on record (current records date back to 1976).

Since 2010, New York State’s economy has added over a million private sector jobs and experienced employment growth in 80 of the past 93 months
