David Bowie’s statue in Buckinghamshire, England was vandalized for the second time since it’s installation in March. According to Billboard, a 29-year-old man was arrested yesterday (October 17th) on suspicion on vandalizing the statue. The first incident happened only 48 hours after the statue was installed, with the words “feed the homeless first” and “RIP DB.” Yesterday, the statue was sprayed with blue paint, hours after it had been professionally cleaned.
“Earthly Messenger,” the life-size bronze statue features several of Bowie’s personas and speakers that play his music every hour. The statue is located in Aylesbury, the town where Bowie debuted his persona Ziggy Stardust in 1972.
The statue was funded through grants and a crowdfunding campaign led by music promoter David Stopps.
