Paul McCartney might score his first chart-topping album in over 36 years with his new Egypt Station. Billboard reported that the just-released set could enter the chart at either the top sport or just under at Number Two and “could tally 115,000-plus units for the week. . . The top 10 of the September 22nd-dated Billboard 200 chart — where Egypt Station will debut — is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, September 16th.”
McCartney recently called into to New York City’s National Public Radio affiliate WFUV and explained that even by his standards, recording Egypt Station was a pleasure from beginning to end: “It’s been a fun one to make. I spent a lot of time with Greg Kurstin, who’s the producer. And we had a lot of fun, y’know, we’d get in the studio, we mess around, we make the song, we goof around and ’round about five o’clock — they bring the cookies in.”
