FEMA Announces New Fed Funding For Natural Disaster Mitigation

Local News

FEMA announced last week that nearly $400 million in federal funding is now available through two Hazard Mitigation Assistance programs, including Flood Mitigation Assistance and
Pre-Disaster Mitigation.

These competitive grant programs assist state, local, tribal and territorial governments in strengthening the nation’s ability to reduce disaster losses and protect life and property from future disaster damages.

The national announcement comes just weeks after flash floods devastated many areas in the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions right here in Upstate New York.

The application period for these grants will begin on October 1.
