A recent study by the United Way Foundation showed that 40% of households in Cortland county are struggling financially.
33% of households have an income above the federal poverty level, but below the basic cost of living.
In an effort to combat these statistics, the United Way raised over $366,000 last year, allocating funds to 15 local programs that address priority needs in the community.
United Way is now thanking all members of the community who have contributed to their cause and invites more to join them.
