Governor Cuomo Bans Underage Tanning In New York State
Local News August 17, 2018Tanning indoors is now officially banned in New York State for anyone under the age of 18.
Gov. Cuomo signed legislation yesterday prohibiting minors from using indoor tanning facilities across the entire state.
The ban is an effort to prevent some of the well known health risks associated with exposure to high intensity ultraviolet rays, especially in those who start tanning at a young age. Cuomo elaborated on his efforts in a press release:
“By further limiting our children from exposing themselves to this health risk, we can stop the spread of preventable disease and help save lives.”
