Congressional Candidate Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi Visited Cortland Yesterday

Local News

With the November general election now less than 12 weeks away, the race in our 22nd congressional district continues to pick up.

Democratic candidate Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi says his race with sitting congresswoman Claudia Tenney is one of the five closest races in the country.

Brindisi was in town yesterday touring Cortland Regional Medical Center and spoke with X101 news about health care issues in New York:

“People in New York State are going to be facing almost double digit premium increases in their health insurance because of some of the attacks that have been happening on the Affordable Care Act. What I would like to see at the federal level is Democrats and Republicans coming together to try and work on some of these issues instead of always bickering.”

Brindisi also went into some of the reasons he decided to join the race in the first place, stemming from his general disapproval with the conditions in our nation’s capital:

“My biggest concern with Washington is that we have extremes on both sides of the aisle. There’s enough blame to go around here. What we really need are folks who are in the middle who actually don’t mind sitting and working together to compromise on some of these big issues.”

The upcoming general election will take place on Tuesday, November 6th.
