Cortland Man Arrested For Robbing Apartment And Threatening Resident

A Cortland man was arrested early yesterday morning (August 15th) after he robbed an apartment and threatened to kill a resident who confronted him.

According to Cortland Police, 25-year-old Joshua Metcalf of Crandall Street broke into an apartment on Elm Street and was removing property when one of the residents returned home.

Metcalf threatened the resident with a tire iron before fleeing on a stolen bike with a backpack full of stolen items.

Police located him just a short distance from the scene and arrested him on a multitude of charges at around 4 AM.

Metcalf was arraigned and is now at CCJ with a bail set at 100,000 cash or 200,000 bond.

He’s set to reappear in court on August 22nd.
