Two Hurt After Owasco Lake Boat Accident; Operator Arrested For Being Intoxicated

A boating accident on Owasco Lake left two people injured and sent one into booking on Sunday, according to Cayuga County Sheriff David Gould.

Emergency workers responded to the call at around 6 PM and found that two of the boat’s ten passengers were in the water when they were struck by its running motor.

43-year-old Amy McKay (town of Throop) was struck in the arm and seriously injured. She had to be airlifted to University Hospital.

44-year-old William Lansbury (city of Auburn) was struck in the lower extremities and made his way to University Hospital via ambulance.

57-year-old Frank McCay (town of Fleming) was arrested at the scene for boating while intoxicated. He was later released and will appear in court at a later date.

Assisting the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office with this incident were the Cayuga County E-911 Center, Fleming Fire Department, AMR Ambulance, Mercy Flight Helicopter, TLC Ambulance, New York State Police, and the Auburn Fire Department.

The Cayuga County Sheriffs are still investigating the incident.
