American Red Cross Still In An Emergency Blood Shortage; Urges People To Donate

Local News

On July 11 the American Red Cross announced an emergency blood shortage. Unfortunately, last Wednesday (July 25) the American Red Cross has reissued the announcement.

The shortage is due to an overall lack of donations as well as lower number of blood drives during the Independence Day week. Blood is being distributed to hospitals faster than it is being donated.

Eligible Blood donors of all blood types and especially Type O are urged to donate.

The American Red Cross will give a $5 Amazon Gift Card as a thank you to anyone who donates blood between July 30 through August 30.
