Drug Take Back Law Aims To Unify Take Back Programs

Local News

New York State Senate sent a press release yesterday announcing that the Drug Take Back Act has now been signed into law.

The Drug Take Back Act is meant to unify drug take-back programs statewide. This will save both the government and taxpayers money, in addition to reducing medication misuse and improper disposal.

The act will also create more permanent disposal locations, requiring pharmacies, both chain and mail-order, to provide collection options for their customers.

Methods of disposal may vary, but drop-boxes and pre-paid mail-in envelopes have been some solutions suggested.

These measures taken will provide reasonable and accessible disposal points that will help keep unused medications from being misused or improperly disposed of.
