The Washington Nationals have placed All-Star closer Sean Doolittle on the 10-day disabled list with left toe inflammation. No word yet on who will replace him on the All-Star roster.

The Tampa Bay Rays have unveiled plans for a new stadium in Tampa’s historic Ybor City area. While the stadium’s glass roof wouldn’t be retractable, its walls would be. The stadium would have just 28,000 seats, making it the smallest in the majors.

The NFL Players Association has filed a grievance with the league over its national anthem policy. The union says that the policy is inconsistent with the collective bargaining agreement and infringes on players’ rights.

Former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner has been indicted by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office on four felony charges, including attempted murder. The charges stem from an incident on Sunday morning in which Browner allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, who had a restraining order against him, and attempted to smother her in a carpet.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed Nikita Kucherov to an eight-year contract extension. The deal is worth an average annual value of $9.5 million.

France defeated Belgium 1-0 yesterday to advance to the World Cup final. They’ll take on the winner of today’s match between England and Croatia. Game time is 2 pm Eastern.

Serena Williams beat 52nd-ranked Camila Giorgi of Italy to advance to the semi-finals at Wimbledon. Serena will next face Julia Goerges of Germany. The other women’s semifinal will have Angelique Kerber of Germany taking on Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia.

Triple Crown winner Justify has been withdrawn from the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park on July 29th. It’s been reported that Justify has a minor injury in his left front ankle and that he may not race again.
