The Rolling Stones Wrap 2018 Dates This Weekend

Music News

The Rolling Stones wrap their 15-date “No Filter” European tour on Sunday night (July 8th) at Warsaw, Poland’s National Stadium. The tour has been easy going for the septuagenarians with the shows spread over a pretty leisurely seven weeks. Along the way, the band welcomed a pair of special guests — Florence Welch and James Bay — and although the setlists for the stadium run were typical “meat and potatoes”-type Stones events, the band did make an effort to please the diehards by tackling some deeper cuts throughout the run.

Highlights spread out over the European tour included such ’60s classics as “She’s A Rainbow,” “Let’s Spend The Night Together,” “19th Nervous Breakdown,” “Get Off My Cloud,” and “Under My Thumb”; a pair of Keith Richards’ weepers “Slipping Away” and “The Worst”; ’70s and ’80s favorites “Dead Flowers,” “Angie,” “Shattered,” “Fool To Cry,” and “Neighbours”; two tips of the hat to the band’s ’90s catalogue with a take on their 1995 cover of Bob Dylan’s “Like A Rolling Stone” and a one-off performance of 1997’s Bridges To Babylon highlight, “Out Of Control.”

Mick Jagger touched upon his old quote that one needs to hit the stage every night as though it’s opening night, and talked about his pre-concert preparations: “You have to work very hard to make any kind of concert. And when I said that quote, it’s quite true. The first one of the tour, or even if it’s the 35th there’s no resting on your laurels, y’know? You just go out there and you do your best and you prepare as well as you can. A lot of it’s to do with the prep. You go prepared and you play to your strengths and you try to ignore your weaknesses (laughs).”
