Paul Simon Kicks Off Farewell Tour Tonight

Music News

Paul Simon kicks off his “Homeward Bound – The Farewell Tour,” tonight (May 16th) in Vancouver at Rogers Arena. The first North American leg runs through June 20th at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, and after that, Simon will play his final shows in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Holland, Ireland, Scotland, and England, before another round of North American dates, which will wrap on September 20th and 21st at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. A yet-to-be announced Manhattan venue penciled in for September 22nd has more than a few people guessing that Simon’s gearing up for his third free concert in Central Park — despite no announcement being made.

Paul Simon told us that he feels that there’s a general unifying theme that can be heard in all of his songs, from his earliest work through the present: “Rhythm, and like, sounds and how words flow together, and humor and serious thoughts — or even heartache, y’know, all in the same song. It’s just a reflection of what’s going on in my life. So, its not inaccurate to say those things.”
