Drug Take Back Saturday In Cincinnatus, Cortlandville, Homer And Marathon

Most people who abuse prescription drugs got them got them at home, or from friends and family.

That’s the motivation for Saturday’s semi-annual Drug Take Back.

Clean out your medicine cabinet and drop off your expired or unused prescription or over the counter medicines.

  • Cincinnatus Fire Department (9a-noon)
  • Marathon High School (9a-noon)
  • Homer Town Hall (9a-noon)
  • Cortlandville Fire Station – Rt 13 (9a-1p)

Homer Chief of Police Robert Pitman says the Homer drop off is a drive-thru. “We’re doing it here in Homer at the Homer Town Hall from 9 am to noon. People can access it by driving into the north parking lot of the Town Hall (from Main Street), dropping off their meds, and exit through the back parking lot onto Water Street.”

Collection at the Cortlandville fire station runs from 9 am to 1 pm. “We’re taking all sorts of medications, including pet medications. What we’re not taking back is needles or syringes, or no thermometers containing mercury.”

The event is also an opportunity to remind about drug collections the rest of the year. “We also have kiosks that are open year round, to take back medications at the Cortland Police Department, the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, the University Police Department as well as here at the Homer Police Department.”

Again, the collection in Saturday, 9 to noon at the Cincinnatus Fire Department, Marathon High School and Homer Town Hall, and from 9 to 1 at the Cortlandville Fire Department on Rt 13.
