Local News

Dorain Bohn, who is 29, was in the Town of Cortlandville Court Monday morning,

Kassidy Dains

Bohn is accused of Criminally Negligent Homicide and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the death of two-year-old Kassidy Dains of McGraw.

On Thursday at about 9 pm, rescuers were called to 11 Elm Street in McGraw.

The call to 9-1-1 claimed a two-year-old girl had fallen and was not breathing.

Patrick Perfetti, Cortland County District Attorney

Outside of court Monday morning, Cortland County District Attorney Patrick Perfetti so far, the evidence does not support that claim.

“At this point, with the post-mortem examination done by our pathologist, he refutes the defendant’s claim that this was an accidental fall from a bunk bed,” said Perfetti.

Perfetti declined to comment when asked if the injuries included sexual assault. He did tell the court he expects the charges to be elevated, possibly to manslaughter.

Bohn is being represented by the County Public Defender.

D.A. Perfetti pointed out to the court that Bohn had just moved here in February. “He is originally from Buffalo and as I indicated in the court, Buffalo is one of the few counties in the state that shares an international border, and because the charges are likely to be elevated, the risk of flight becomes more significant.”

According to Perfetti, Bohn confirmed to police he had been drinking alcohol.

Bohn’s bail was continued by Judge Lenore LeFevre at $50,000 cash/$100,000 bond.
