Investigation Leads To Welfare Fraud Charge For Woman From Cortland

A Cortland County Sheriff’s Office investigation led to the arrest on Tuesday of Felicia Collins, 29, of Cortland.

According to Inv/Sgt Jason Newcomb, Collins submitted fraudulent documents to the Cortland County Department of Social Services concerning her child care provider and child care expenses.

Newcomb reports Collins received benefits of more than $600 that she was not entitled to.

She was charged with a felony charge of Offering a False Instrument for Filing, plus charges of Welfare Fraud and Petit Larceny.

Newcomb says Collins is to appear in Cortland City Court on April 27.
